$OMNIA Token – Entering new phase of token value accrual

3 min read

It’s not a secret that OMNIA Protocol’s secure RPC has been heavily used by 30M+ users over the past years, with a strong stickiness showing current 8M+ monthly active users. You don’t need to take our word for granted, you can see it for yourself how many open source repositories are using OMNIA RPC endpoints.

Tens of Wallets, DEXs, L2s and Dapps, either open source or closed source, have been relying on our RPC DePIN infrastructure for almost 3 years now, since our inception and product launch in late 2021.

We strived to gain as much market share as possible, by offering the most reliable RPC for both non-technical users and engineers. Our current stats highlight an adoption rate that most Dapps in the space would be envious about. We are proud of it, and we thank every user that has used and/or its using OMNIA RPC.

Token value accrual from RPC subscription

The token utility within the main OMNIA Protocol product offering has been largely covered in our previous blog post. We’ve also posted an explainer our official Youtube channel – feel free to check these resources if you need a refresher 🙂

TL;DR is that the use of paid OMNIA RPC directly creates value that is captured by the $OMNIA token utility.

Changes as we enter this new phase

We are committed to pull all levers to make sure $OMNIA token utility & ecosystem captures the value created by our beloved RPC product. Thus, as we move forward, the following changes will be applied to our freemium RPC subscriptions:

  • Daily RPC requests quota will be be limited to 50,000 requests (previously 100,000)
  • Request per second (RPS) throughput will be limited to 15 RPS (previously 50)
  • Websocket usage rate limits will be aligned with above RPS values
  • Batch-requests are no longer supported on freemium subscriptions

These changes will be rolled-out and reflected within the next days.

Main takeway – if you currently use OMNIA RPC and see the 429s rate limit status code, make yourself a favor and upgrade your subscription on app.omniatech.io dashboard.

What’s next ?

Reducing the freemium rate limits is only the first step.
The following product changes are also in the final stage of testing and will be gradually introduced:

  • Leverage $OMNIA holdings to discount & acquire RPC subscriptions
  • Stake $OMNIA to access RPC subscriptions
  • Exclusive access to state-of-art security features for $OMNIA token holders

Additionally, we’ve started discussions with existing B2B clients and users to allow the acquisition of RPC services using their own token such that a multi-token treasury can be built over time, and through the governance system to decide later on how these can be distributed/airdropped to $OMNIA token holders.

Opening new horizons

We are no strangers to AI tools & infrastructure. Actually we’ve build over time our own AI expert that is helping millions of users to understand their on-chain activity exposure & risk just by chatting in natural language.

Running an DePIN infrastructure for 3+ years have taught us important lessons on how a global decentralized network of nodes should be managed, monitored, benchmarked for performance.

There is a huge demand for AI computational resources, and more specific GPU infrastructure – we see this demand significantly bigger than the supply of such resources. We think our expertise in DePIN can be used in new horizons to expand OMNIA Protocol even further.

In line with the above, what we can say at this point is that we’ll make OMNIA RPC even more “intelligent” while bringing the “intelligence” seamlessly to every web3 product out there.
